Languages and cultures in Southern Africa
|
Participants Erland Gadelii, Tore Janson, Daniel Ridings
In southern Africa, a whole array of different languages are spoken. The cultural and linguistic situation in southern Africa has been created through historical developments that include large scale migrations and a number of conflicts, wars and displacements. The result is a complex state of affairs in which many groups with very different traditions live together or close to each other. This constitutes the subject matter of this project, which focuses on the relationship between Bantu languages and Indoeuropean languages. Primary attention is given to the situation in Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
